It was considered to be the most solemn book to be written by Ezra Dunster himself. The known leadership of the See of Old, the location of the Archcathedral, was responsible for sanctioning the writing of its origins, at first intended solely for academic purposes. But things manifested differently as time went by, and the Book in question became rather a source of instruction for survival than simply serving as a collection of pages for general reference.
Within the knowledge developed from the magical community, a subject of the same character eventually emerged, known simply as the discipline of "Care of Magical Creatures." Although it was initially thought of as an Almanac of the complete listing of the mythicals to be found anywhere else in the universe (including a collection of the rarest and extinct creatures), the Book of the Most Curious Mythicals was repurposed to serve a greater objective, primarily in the development of opposition and defense from the reversal of roles initiated mainly by this opposing effect of the sinister substance of Dangerous Rhetoric.
Ezra Dunster's methodology in the development of this book has always been placed in a particular context through a defined mode of inter-dimensional travel (also known colloquially during that time as "Junket") where he had the pleasure of having access to numerous myths and legends that he then carefully documented. The lands that he was able to go through by courageously traversing the veils of various dimensions were kept as a closely guarded secret, and it still remains to be so until this very day. But there was a very important discovery that was made known after the Book has been thoroughly examined: the first-hand accounts relating to these mythicals were originally obtained from the in-depth interviews that he was able to accomplish within the mysterious dominion of the Fairies.
However, this transmitted information has never been confirmed by Ezra Dunster himself, and initially regarded by the Empire as purely speculative, but there are sufficient evidence available to believe that such matter may have been true, and believed throughout the many era of historical significance to have actually existed.
Obviously, the Book discussed more important treatise in beliefs and philosophy than by merely being contented in simply enumerating the mythicals as a mere product of the imagined that needed to be listed and memorized; but obviously, Dunster's intention for writing this very essential Book was to serve as a guide for posterity's sake, and to capacitate future discovery in order for them to truly navigate the intricacies of the infinite world that is present out there, and for the immediate care of these mythical creatures to preserve with an appropriate historical marker as one of the most important evidence of the monument of existing imagination.
The original and the official copy of the Book of the Most Curious Mythicals was leather-bound, reportedly containing a thousand pages of parchment, complete with glorious illustrations, and a well-written prologue in order to provide the proper premise to its content. The dedication of the Book was inscribed as follows:
For "Nick" who generously gives of himself; for "Rudolph" who taught me lessons about the importance of the most curious color for a nose; and the "Chief," together with the company of the most fortunate children under his privileged scrutiny; the Elves, the mysterious "mirror men," as I like to call them, and the talented Drummers, who testified to the eternal truth about the infinite power of flaming passion once aided by the beating of the wounded Hearts.
Together with the Book of Chants, the last known copies of this Book were also lost in oblivion, but the reasons therefore (including the circumstances cited for its disappearance) are still unclear. There were rumors that Ezra Dunster himself has personally willed for the Book of Chants to magically vanish from existence, but the historicity of such event from happening is widely disputed, too. It was also not too clear if the rarest copy of the Book of the chants itself contains a certain impetus that wields enormous power for those who physically hold it, but, still, nobody can truly confirm the truthful quality of such hasty assumption.
